Before I decided to contact ace training, I read the reviews of other clients. I decided to give this service a try because of all the wonderful comments. Now that my pug and I have completed the training, I am now writing this review for anyone who is skeptical about ACE, these reviews truly justify the service.
If you establish yourself as your dog’s leader in the owner-dog relationship you share, this type of barking problem won’t occur. In the process of training you’ll also form a strong bond together based on trust and mutual respect. To learn the best way to obedience train your dog visit dogproblems.com membership site.
When your dog begins to exhibit a problem behavior, try to work on correcting it right away. The longer you let it go on, the harder it will be to correct it. Some problem behaviors get to the point where they are almost impossible for the average owner to handle. If you think your dog may need the kind of help that you can’t give him, don’t hesitate to seek the help of a professional trainer.
Build your dog’s alertness at home by having people the dog doesn’t know act as though they are trying to get into your home or yard. When your German shepherd dog barks, the intruder should look at the dog and then flee while you hold and praise your dog. Do not allow your pet to chase the fleeing stranger. Praise your dog highly for letting you know someone was in your territory, and stop the barking as soon as the person flees. This strengthens the dog’s confidence.
Determine whether the dog is docile and not overly protective. An aggressive, highly territorial or protective dog is unlikely to make a good service dog. You will spend more time trying to control the dog that he spends helping you.
Understand the value of the command. The “come” is used whenever you want your dog to come to you. This command is potentially life-saving, as it can prevent your dog from running off if he gets loose.
American K9 specializes in unique situations. Multiple dogs, different lifestyles, different dog behavioral issues. We have clients whose ages range from 8 weeks to 15 years old. Due to my flexibility, I am able to offer programs solely unique to each of my clients.
The hardest part of training is communicating with the dog in a humane way that the dog understands. However, the underlying principle of all communication is simple: reward desired behavior. Our technique never includes harmful physical force or violence. Using force may lead to a loss of drive (enthusiasm for the given task), stress, and in some cases even aggression.

Sylvia-Stasiewicz, who wrote The Love That Dog Training Method, says a client’s Australian shepherd wouldn’t stop jumping, despite reprimands. A trainer who used a more traditional, alpha dog technique taught the client to knee the dog in the chest each time it jumped.
There is a college that offers a program in animal training and management: Moorpark College. The emphasis at Moorpark’s Training Zoo is exotic animals, so there is not an intense focus on domestic dogs.
Consider how long it takes to chew a hard treat versus a semi-moist treat like “Bill Jack” or “Zuke’s Mini Naturals.” Treats about the size of a pencil eraser head are enough to get the positive point across, and you don’t have to wait long for your dog to eat it.
Does your four-legged friend have issues like walking you down the street, getting into the trash or jumping on people in your home? Do you just want to do something fun with your dog like teaching them to shake, bow or crawl? Camp Bow Wow’s dog training program can help get your pup off your “naughty-dog” list or just help you have more fun with your dog using reward-based methods.
Practice everywhere, with everyone If you learn that two plus two equals four in a classroom, you’ll take that information with you wherever you go. Dogs, however, learn very specifically and don’t automatically apply their knowledge in different situations and places as well as people do. If you teach your dog to sit on cue in your kitchen, you’ll have a beautifully kitchen-trained dog. But she might not understand what you mean you ask her to sit in other locations. If you want your dog to perform new skills everywhere, you’ll need to practice them in multiple places-your home, your yard, out on walks, at friends’ houses, at the park and anywhere else you take your dog.
Our two rescue dogs did the 10 day boot camp. It was a amazing to see the difference from day 1. I cannot recommend dog training now enough. They not only trained the dogs but us the owners on how to work with them and give them the commands they need to be successful.
During all group and private training programs, owners are given feedback and individual instruction from Marie-Josée regarding the most appropriate training techniques for their dogs. Techniques chosen are based on the dog’s temperament, the progress the dog is making, and the dedication of the owner. All dogs and owners are treated on an individual basis.
Move the training to more public spaces. Because the “come” command could save your dog’s life, he must learn to respond to it even when he’s distracted. Move the training sessions from your home or yard to a public park. There are more sights, sounds, and smells demanding his attention there.
Click the clicker device, then immediately give the dog a treat. This creates a positive association with the click sound. Later, that sound will “mark” a behavior as correct so the dog knows that he did something right.
At Absolute we feature obedience training for all breeds. As dog lovers ourselves, we know that thorough obedience training is the key to a happy, confident, and well-adjusted dog. The use of traditional positive reinforcement techniques will result in a quick and willing response to such basic commands as sit, stay, come, and heel. This will also result in a dog who loves to learn and to please.
He has also trained at the famous Vohne Liche Kennels with owner Ken Licklider, which the Nat Geo show “Alpha Dogs” is based off. Vohne Liche Kennels is the training hub for the military and DoD special forces K9s. Last year, Nick was made part of Sport Dog’s Pro Staff, as he was considered to be one of the top electronic trainers in the world. Nick will be appearing on “Alpha Dogs” in the coming months.
Obedience training really is not for the dog… it’s for YOU. This training teaches you how to communicate what you want your dog to do in a way that he understands. If you send your dog to someone else to train them, they learn to work with that person, not you. Take the time to learn how to train your dog, don’t pass the responsibility off to someone else. In some cases, you may need to have your dog learn the basics from someone else. But then, you should have the trainer work with you AND the dog together. This will make sure that you have the ability to continue the training at home. Check back in with the trainer for “tune up” sessions for you and your dog to keep everyone on track.
We are happy to help train disability skills even if you decide not to pursue the entire Service Dog Training Program. You would still need to enter into the Service Dog Training Program (with all of the same requirements) and test out of Phase 1: Basic Obedience and Phase 2: Advanced Obedience prior to moving into Phase 3: Disability Skills training. You are not required to complete the full program.
Aggression isn’t always a full-out attack. Usually it’s more subtle—but equally dangerous—behavior. Does your dog bare his teeth at you when you reach for his collar to get him off the furniture? Does he stand over and guard his food bowl or special toys? Is walking him difficult because you can’t trust him to greet other dogs nicely? These are all manifestations of aggressive tendencies that will probably lead to a bite incident someday. If you notice anything like this, take immediate action. What to do? Certainly setting limits, rewarding only positive behavior, not responding emotionally, and evaluating diet are things you should implement around your home right away. Of course, reinforcing limits with an aggressive dog can cause the aggression to escalate. There’s basically no way around it: Because of the potential for serious harm, it’s critical to begin working with a professional. Pick up the phone or go online right now and call 1-800-PET-DOGS or go to www.apdt.com. This is the contact information for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, a national organization of certified, reward-oriented dog trainers and behaviorists. Finding someone in your area is the first step; if that person isn’t qualified, they should certainly try to refer you to someone who is.
