Socialize your German Shepherd dog puppy from the start. Dogs should acquire a clear understanding of what is normal and what is not, so that they are not fearful and they know when there is a genuine threat. To socialize puppies, take them places with you, and allow them to meet and interact with as many other people and animals as possible, always taking care to keep your puppy safe from negative experiences. Dogs of any breed are prone to be shy and fearful in strange or new environments if they haven’t been well socialized, and this can create a dog who bites from fear or who runs when confronted with anything unusual.
Consider clicker training. Clicker training is a method of delivering immediate praise with the help of a clicker. You can click faster than you can give a treat or pet your dog’s head. As such, clicker training reinforces good behavior fast enough for a dog’s learning speed. It works by creating a positive association between the click sound and rewards. Eventually, your dog will consider the sound of the clicker itself reward enough for good behavior. You can apply the principle of clicker training to any dog command.
Certain people have a DIY spirit, but many of us won’t be up to the task of the in-depth training it takes to have a tested assistance animal. Legally in the United States, there is no required certification, but the service animal training community has come up with self-regulated, minimum standards for training. We are so pleased with Brent & Ace Dog Training! We left Boomer, our 2 yr old rescued boxer mix, with Brent for 2 weeks for his train & board program. When he picked up him up on day 1, Boomer was unpredictable off-leash and very reactive to other dogs. We hoped that Brent could help with those issues, as we had tried everything we knew how to do. But sometimes you just need a professional, and if so, Brent is your guy! During the 2 weeks, he emailed us updates and videos of Boomer’s progress. His communication made us feel encouraged and at ease. It was clear that even after the first few days, he was making progress! When Brent brought him back to us after the 2 weeks, we could see a visible shift in our typically high-strung, on-alert rescue. He seemed calmer, happier, and more well-adjusted. Far less reactive to other dogs, and reliable off-leash. It was incredible! Brent also gave us all the details, instructions, and tools we need to continue Boomer’s training. We’ve already met for a follow-up training session to keep working on his skills off-leash while other dogs are around.
They saved me! Working night shift with a little puppy who didn’t listen to anything I said was killing me! I took him for puppy preschool and we loved it! One of those classes they were showing a puppy they had enrolled in their obedience training and I was sold! They turned my cute little crazy dog into a happy, obedient pup! After the first day there Charlie didn’t pull on the leash and hasn’t yet! They also taught me every night so I would know how to keep it up at home and welcomed everyone that was in his… read more
Private training can address problem behaviors, teach basic obedience issues, help you adjust to a new dog in your home or to prepare for the arrival of a new baby or introducing a dog to children or to another dog already in your home. Private sessions can be used in conjunction with group classes to train your dog for specific issues and for socialization and general obedience issues. Typical common dog behavior problems can be addressed in one or two private sessions. This depends of course on specific issues, and how much time the owner invests in the follow-up plan. No two dogs, owners and environments are the same, so for each private session, a custom plan is determined to meet the customer’s needs and goals.

Remember not to press the button after bad behaviour has finished. You have to do it at 1st second it starts or even earlier. Best thing you can do use vibration just before “shock”, once your dog knows what vibration mean he will start to behave 🙂 good luck.

Dogs are often referred to as man’s best friend because they’re loyal and intelligent. Dogs love being trained; being obedient and working together with humans comes naturally to them. That’s why, with a little bit of know-how, training dogs and learning tricks can be easy and rewarding.

Strictly following the model set out in the Koehler Method of Dog Training, some 50 years later, the Koehler method continues to be taught in both class and private training formats. The method is based in the philosophy that a dog acts on its right to choose its actions. Koehler explained that a dog’s learned behavior is an act of choice based on its own learning experience. When those choices are influenced by the expectation of reward, the behavior will most likely be repeated, and when those choices are influenced by the anticipation of punishment, they will most likely cease. Once the dog has learned that its choices result in comfort or discomfort it can be taught to make the correct decisions. Action→Memory→Desire encapsulates the learning pattern used by the method; the dog acts, remembers the consequences, and forms the desire to repeat or avoid those consequences. Adherents believe that once the behavior has been correctly taught, it should be performed, thus making any correction, fair, reasonable, and expected. While the model has been used consistently since 1962, some of the punishment procedures described in the book are now not considered necessary, humane, or appropriate by many trainers.
We strive to provide the highest level of canine education to foster the best relationship possible between human and dog. We also make every effort to provide quality working dogs to serve as a model within the communities where they serve.
