So if your older puppy is still mouthing on your hands, or barking back at you when you tell him to do something, or if he doesn’t stop whatever he’s doing when you say, “No”, you mustn’t rush on to “heel” or “sit-stay”.

YP – The Real Yellow PagesSM – helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business’s suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.
Hey If you want to learn how to train your dog, first watch the video above for the fundamentals of training and start to learn how your dog thinks. Once you get inside your dog’s head you can more easily see your way to training your dog more easily.
Keep in mind that ditching the “alpha dog” concept doesn’t mean you have to let your dog do anything she likes. It’s fine to be the boss and make the rules-but you can do that without unnecessary conflict. Be a benevolent boss, not a bully. Good leadership isn’t about dominance and power struggles. It’s about controlling your dog’s behavior by controlling her access to things she wants. YOU have the opposable thumbs that open cans of dog food, turn doorknobs and throw tennis balls! Use them to your best advantage. If your dog wants to go out, ask her to sit before you open the door. When she wants dinner, ask her to lie down to earn it. Does she want to go for a walk? If she’s jumping up on you with excitement, wait calmly until she sits. Then clip on the leash and take your walk. Your dog will happily work for everything she loves in life. She can learn to do what you want in order to earn what she wants.
Reinforce commands your dog understands. When you train your dog with an electronic collar, begin with commands the dog is familiar with. Say the command, such as sit or stay, and wait for your dog to respond. If your dog is not paying attention, press the button on your transmitter and repeat the command.

Puppy training mainly focuses on socialization and basic manners, and thus fits well into a small-group training model. Puppies will learn to be friendly around other puppies and humans, and they will learn familiarity with the leash. Beginner and intermediate obedience classes are usually taught in a group training setting, wherein 5-10 owners and dogs learn basic to medium commands (sit and stay/down/heel). The group setting is recommended because it teaches dogs to ignore other distractions–whether they be dogs, humans or peripheral noises.
Children’s or pet playpens or baby gates across a doorway can be used to similar effect. The additional benefit is that in a smaller area, your dog will either learn to ‘hold on’ to avoid toileting in the cosy ‘den’, or will at least select a place away from his bed to toilet. As soon as you let your dog out from the crate or pen take them to the toileting spot and do not keep your dog confined for long periods of time.
Welcome to Bark Busters USA, part of the international dog training company founded over 25 years ago and whose techniques have successfully been used to train the owners of over 1 million dogs. Bark Busters founders Sylvia and Danny Wilson have refined a method of dog behavioral & obedience training that makes dog training easy and accessible to all. With Bark Busters, you work directly with a dog trainer in your own home using a method that takes into account the unique challenges you’re facing and then fosters a positive relationship between you and your dog. This method enables you to build a lasting, emotional bond based on trust and respect, which in turn aids in overcoming past challenges with your pet. Bark Busters dog trainers focus heavily on training people, as much or more as training dogs, so that once you learn to communicate effectively with your dog, you will have the necessary tools to be an effective dog trainer and “leader of his/her pack.”

In the canine justice system, the dogs are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the dog trainers, who investigate the unwanted behaviors; and the dog owners, who uphold the training taught to them. These are their stories.
