There are many different ways to train a dog, and many different methods and dog trainers.  To be successful, the owner of the dog being trained must understand how to communicate, and understand how to think like a dog, and what works best.  THE Dog Class will train you to be able to do this.

The International School for Dog Trainers specializes in Mentoring and Shadowing courses in Basic Dog Training. The School in addition provides e-collar training  short courses (E-Touch) for dog trainers, both at their center in Florida and other locations as requested. It also runs courses in retrieving and gundog work, both for spaniels and retrievers. 407 469-5583

Prepare for the training session. Grab his favorite toy or prepare a handful of treats to both focus your dog’s attention and reward him for learning the command. Put the dog in a starting “down” or “lie down” position when working with the “stand” command. He should move from lying down to standing up to get his toy or treats.

Obedience This series covers safety, first aid, and consistent work on the basic commands: heel, sit, look, down, wait, end of leash movement, come. Obedience classes are taught in six-week building blocks: basic obedience leads to intermediate obedience level one, then level two, beginning advanced, and so on.

Puppy training mainly focuses on socialization and basic manners, and thus fits well into a small-group training model. Puppies will learn to be friendly around other puppies and humans, and they will learn familiarity with the leash. Beginner and intermediate obedience classes are usually taught in a group training setting, wherein 5-10 owners and dogs learn basic to medium commands (sit and stay/down/heel). The group setting is recommended because it teaches dogs to ignore other distractions–whether they be dogs, humans or peripheral noises.

When a dog has nothing else to do, he might try chewing or digging. You can be held somewhat responsible for this, as you should be providing your dog with daily exercise and entertainment. In addition to making sure your dog has enough daily activity, you can recognize when and why a dog is prone to a particular problem behavior, and then take steps to help him overcome it.

Maida has trained family pets and dogs for film, personal protection, and classified projects. He says clients typically seek him out when they are dealing with aggression toward people or other dogs, house-training issues, well as unruly behavior such as leash pulling, stealing food during meals, knocking over kids and visitors, and making “kitty’s life a living hell.”

We utilize humane, science-backed training techniques to provide the most effective instruction for you and your dog using rewards-based training methods to shape desirable behavior. You can feel confident that punitive training techniques will not be found here! To learn more about our guiding principles, check out this position statement from the APDT.

Does the instructor seem to really like dogs, people, and teaching? Does she reward her students with praise and encourage them to do the same with their dogs? The last thing you and your dog need is someone who doesn’t enjoy teaching you.

While dog trainers can earn as little as $7.76 an hour up to as much as $29.59 an hour, Animal Behavior College estimates the average wage at $20 an hour, as of 2010. However, some trainers earn upward of $150 an hour – especially those with a great deal of experience and in certain areas of the country.

Cairng for dogs is more than long walks and the occasional brushing. Depending on the breed you have and its size there are a number of specific training and grooming steps you may need to take to provide special care. Different breeds require specific instructions as the response is not uniform from say a Poodle and a Terrier. Theres a lot to learn when teaching a canine basic commands but our range of how-to manuals and guides make teaching your buddy fun, rewarding and most of all successful. Whether you are in the market for a Beagle, Bloodhound, Shih Tzu or Great Dane we have everything youll need to properly raise and care for your dog.

“I used to dread taking my dog for long walks (or anywhere that we were likely to encounter people/other dogs), because she was so aggressive and excitable. I had bruises and scratches from holding her back! After the two week program here, though, we can go to forest preserves, parks– whatever! My rambunctious boxer will now stay, come, sit, lay down, and walk next to me on a leash. She even makes out with the collie next door now. The difference is huge! Another plus is that because the trainers give you lots of advice and tips, I’m better able to train my dog too! I had tried teaching her stuff before (like sit, shake, wait until I say “okay” to eat) without much success, but this week I used some techniques that Marcus and Nick told me about, and she picked up a couple extra tricks in no time. I’m very happy to have found this place, and my dog seemed to love it too! Every morning I started to ask, “Ready for school?” and there would be serious wiggle-butting.”

Don’t Drop Them Off and Hope for the Best Hailee Mink, B.S.N. Here at New Beginnings K-9 Training, we’ve developed a very strict and successful means to our  boarding program. At first, it looks like a lot, but once you take a deeper look into why we do the things we do, most people are…

We have dedicated our entire training career to providing positive training methods that focus on building a relationship with your dog. If you want a truly responsive dog then learn to speak its language.

To do this, perhaps invite a friend to come and visit. Have the friend bring along a dog toy, and when the dog looks in their direction, click, use the cue word ‘play’ and reward. This gives him the signal its OK to keep approaching.

Obedience training: We offer beginning level and advanced level training for dogs of all ages. Dogs learn the basics of obedience training during these sessions and also have a chance to work on their socialization skills.
